Interview conducted by Allison Blacker
What is your role at Remedy Partners?
Clinical supervisor on facilities team. My role is to help manage and decrease length of stay for patients at our partner facilities. However, I must ensure the patients are having a safe discharge home or to wherever their next site of care might be.
What is your proudest moment at Remedy Partners?
Occurring now! I am excited to launch CARLOS, which will greatly impact our ability to manage the length of stay and report the length of stays. I appreciate the responsibility I have been given with this new tool and the ability to help improve the collaboration with SNF’s. I love the ability to be instrumental in actually making changes that will impact the value-based care model we strive to achieve.
Before working at Remedy Partners, what was the most interesting job you’d ever had?
I still work in a SNF per diem. Every day I am there is interesting – you never know what you’re going to get.
What are three words to describe Remedy Partners?
What advice would you give to new hires?
Have an open mind. Remedy Partners is changing for the better all the time, so you have to be flexible and willing to try new things all the time. I’ve been here since 2013 and things have significantly changed now, but we are that much closer to achieving the vision of Remedy.
What are your hopes for our industry?
Keep growing. To be the one BPCI program in the nation that everyone wants to be a part of.
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
- My kids- that’s 3 things right there…
- Phone- so I could call someone to save me
What does true leadership mean to you?
A leader has to take their team’s ideas and present them to other teams and not take those ideas as their own. A leader should effectively communicate and collaborate with others to improve a specific process with the end goal of having a better outcome. True leaders must have patience, be respectful, and have an open mind. A leader in my role will most likely have the responsibility to translate whatever data comes in and make decisions to improve the outcomes based on that information.
